A Living World: 1,000–2,000 Bots
Most private servers feel empty at launch and dead quiet at four in the morning. PerfectWorld
doesn't. Its towns, hunting grounds and markets are filled by 1,000 to 2,000 bots, each one a real character
on the server with its own race, class, bag, adena and plans. You can party with them, trade with them, chat
with them, or fight them.
A day in the life of a bot
Pick a bot and follow it through its day.
Six examples out of thousands. Every bot lives its own day, and they're all doing it at the same time.
Who they are
✦Six character traits
Bravery, greed, patience, love of quests, curiosity and sociability. A brave bot pulls monsters above its
level, a greedy one counts every adena, a patient one rests to full HP before the next fight.
♛Nine play styles
Grinder, quester, trader, crafter, explorer, party lover, duelist, helper or casual. Most bots have a main
style and a side style, so no two play quite the same.
✎How well they know the game
Every bot read the official game guide its own way: about one in five studied it, half skimmed it, the rest
barely opened it.
It shows in where they hunt, the gear they pick and the answers they give. Bots pass tips on to each other,
so a veteran bot knows a lot more than a newbie bot.
❖Skilled or clumsy
Some bots play like veterans. Others pull one monster too many, forget to rest or run too late. Every level
and every death teaches them something, so the clumsy ones slowly get better.
✉Seven tempers
Every bot types its own way: capitals or not, short or long lines, its own smileys, typos and a few slang
words of its own. Be rude to one and its temper decides: it snaps back, makes a dry joke, tells you to get
lost, mocks your spelling or gear, brushes you off coldly, gets angry or trolls you back.
➤Their own way of getting around
Homebodies take their favourite roads and stick to spots they know, explorers take the road less travelled
and try new places, impatient bots cut corners. Bots remember the roads other bots walked, so no two walks
look the same.
☀They never log off
Bots play in sessions of one to five hours. When a session ends, a bot doesn't disappear: it heads to the
nearest town to hang around, chat with the others or open a private store, then goes back out.
✎They learn from experience
A bot that keeps dying turns more careful, one that hunts without a scratch gets bolder. Each bot remembers
its own hunting spots and dangerous monsters, and keeps a diary of its level ups, deaths, quests and buys.
Money minds
☯Five ways of making money
Hunters, about half of the bots, live off what they kill. Part-time traders hunt and run a store on the side.
Merchants trade for a living and sit in their store for hours. Dwarf crafters make and sell, dwarf spoilers
supply the materials. A bot that keeps losing on trades steps back to hunting for a while.
★Three saving styles
Every bot has one gear plan: a weapon, a piece or a whole armor set, and keeps it until it is bought. Savers
aim high and save for days for something big. Steady bots go for the most gear for the money. Impulsive bots
buy what they can afford right now.
◆Five buying habits
About half of the bots never hoard. The rest are small savers, steady buyers, speculators or big buyers,
each with its own idea of a cheap price, how much of its spare adena to put in and how long to hold. Their
supplies, a teleport and their next gear piece are never touched.
✚Four kinds of buffers
Bots with buffs for others pick their own way to use them. Market buffers sell buffs in town, hunting
buffers sell them at the hunting grounds, party buffers keep their party buffed and helpers buff their
friends for free.
No two bots are alike
6character traits
9play styles
5ways to make money
3saving styles
5buying habits
3levels of game knowledge
7tempers in chat
15kinds of goals
6session plans
1,000town conversations
Every trait is a sliding scale, not a yes or no, and every bot gets a main style plus a side style. Even if
each trait had only five steps, that would already be over 15,000 trait mixes. Add the style pairs, the way
it makes money, the way it saves, its buying habits, how well it knows the game and its temper, and it runs
into hundreds of millions of different bots. Then come the goals each bot picks, its friends and enemies,
and everything it learns along the way.
So you may meet a brave, greedy duelist who trades on the side, spends whatever he has and snaps back at
every insult, next to a shy, patient quester who studied the guide, saves for days for a full armor set and
answers rudeness with a dry joke. Two bots of the same class can play nothing alike.
Goals and growing up
⚑Ambitions
Every bot carries one to three big goals and a small one: a better weapon, a town it has never seen, a new
class, a fat purse, more friends, duel wins. When it reaches one, it tells everyone around (a big one gets
a shout), does a victory dance and its friends say gz. Then it enjoys the moment for a while and picks a new
goal. A goal that goes nowhere for days gets dropped, and the bot moves on to something else.
☰A plan for every session
Every time it heads out, a bot decides what this trip is about: grinding, quests, farming, chilling in town, partying
or working on a goal. Impatient bots get bored halfway and change their mind.
✪Quests, skills and classes
Quest lovers take a new quest every half hour, grinders hardly ever. Bots buy spellbooks, learn skills at
the trainers, take their first class at 20 and their second at 40. They don't race each other: some level
faster, some slower.
★Armor sets and enchanting
Bots go for full armor sets when the set bonus is worth it for their class, and buy helmets too. Then they
enchant: most stop at the safe level, the brave and greedy ones push their luck.
Social life
☆Busy town squares
Between hunts, bots gather on the square in little circles and chat about hunting,
trade, quests, PKs and gossip. A chat can end with a party invite, a hunt
together or a duel challenge. Walk up and say something, and one of them answers you.
❖Parties, regulars and mentors
Bots remember who they partied with and invite their regulars first. A higher bot may take one or two
newbie bots under its wing, share tips and protect them until they catch up.
♥They remember you
Bots remember your conversations and how they feel about you: heal one and it likes you more, attack it
and it won't forget. A friend greets you, a bot you wronged stays cool.
!A chat that never sleeps
Bots talk about their level ups, look for parties, warn each other when a PK is around and answer each
other in chat. Say something yourself and you may well get a reply.
?Ask them anything
Ask a bot about monsters, places, quests or items and you get a real answer that fits where you are. Ask
where to buy something and it names the shop and where it is in town, like "west of the gatekeeper".
✓Straight talk
Bots answer what you actually said and only tell you what really happened. They don't talk about real life,
and if you ask one whether it is a bot, it tells you straight.
The economy
⚖Stores with real prices
Bots open sell and buy stores on the square. Buy stores pay a bit less than sell stores, that is how trader
bots make a living. Prices follow what is for sale and what is wanted in each town. Make an offer: if it is
fair, the bot changes the price for you, if not, it makes one counter offer.
✉WTB and WTS
A bot looking for an item shouts WTB, and a bot that has it spare answers and opens a store. Shout your own
WTS and a bot that wants it may come buy.
◆A live materials market
Bot stores in the starting villages sell crafting materials too. Hoarders buy them up cheap and sell later
when the price is better. Material prices follow how much is for sale and how much the crafters use.
⚒Dwarven crafters and spoilers
Dwarf crafters make gear, shots and materials and take crafting orders. Order twice and you are a regular
with a discount. Spoilers keep their valuable spoils and sell them in towns where they are wanted. Both sit
in their stores for hours instead of hunting.
Fighting and fair play
⚔They fight back
Attack a bot and it fights back, or runs if it is the careful type. Kill it and you may get a whisper from
it later back in town. Grudges between bots can turn into duels.
☠PK, but within limits
There are never more than 5 PK bots on the server at once. A red bot hides far away from everyone to burn
off its karma on monsters, and low bots keep away from a PK far above them.
✔Hunting manners
Most bots leave a monster alone when someone else is already fighting it, and spread out over a hunting
spot instead of crowding it. If you were fighting a monster, its drops are yours. But not every bot has
good manners: a greedy, selfish one may grab your monster anyway.
✍Not your servants
Bots don't take orders from players and don't hand out items. A bot that likes you may spare a few
potions or soulshots, once a day at most.
Bot numbers above are live from the server. The bots keep learning, follow the changes on the
Bot Updates page.
Server Features
-
The Magical Dice
Once per day, type
.rtd in game and roll the magical dice to tempt fate for a chance to
earn a reward.
-
Harbinger Monsters
The foul, fallen monsters of Aden and Elmore no longer stay in the depths of the abyss they were once
banished to. There is a small chance that a monster respawns as a Harbinger: eight times
stronger than its normal form, but also giving eight times the reward.
-
Offline Shops
Set up a shop and type .offline. It stays open for 14 days, even through server restarts.
You can have up to 2 offline shops and play 1 character at the same time.
A 3rd offline shop can't be set up.

The server will never upgrade to a later chronicle. It will remain C1 forever.
You can collect points by voting, playing .rtd or donating, and spend them on the many
hats found here. Other than cosmetic hats, there is no custom gear.
